Timetabled Enrichment & Open Courses
Our timetabled enrichment programme ensures that all pupils have access to a cycle of ambitious extra-curricular activities which provide additional opportunities for teamwork, oracy, creativity, and logic. All pupils will complete a cycle of 12 enrichment activities in Years 7 & 8. Pupils complete enrichment lessons in their tutor groups to strengthen their sense of team identity and belonging.
The current Year 7 & 8 timetabled enrichment offer is as follows:
Year 7 - Architecture, Chess, Drama, Electronics, Rugby, Singing
Year 8 - Alternative Sport, Cooking, Drama, Logical Reasoning, Outdoor Adventure & Orienteering, Samba
In Year 9 and KS4, pupils refine their interests through targeted after-school opportunities such as debating and music technology clubs, the Duke of Edinburgh award in Year 10, and our annual school production.
In Year 12, pupils take part in 3 'Open Courses’ to further become well-rounded people – both as an end in itself and as preparation for university applications and future study. Our current Open Course offer is: Creative Arts, Culture & Heritage, Modern World, Science & Mathematics, and Sport.
Clubs
In addition to timetabled enrichment, pupils can opt into a range of high-quality after-school sport, music and art clubs. Through clubs, pupils have entered competitions such as the Delancey Chess UK competition and Poetry by Heart in the past. We also run a board games club every lunchtime to build students’ social skills - this is for invited pupils only. Every Spring term we put on a school production - this alternates every two years between the Shakespeare in Schools programme (https://www.shakespeareschools.org/) and a large-scale musical. Previous productions have included Romeo & Juliet (2025-26), The Lion King (2024-25), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2023-24), and Oliver! Jr (2022-23). This year our production is Little Shop of Horrors - our first full-length musical!
Pupils give preferences for clubs they would like to join at the start of each term. Pupils are then allocated based on capacity in each club - we will always aim to place pupils wishing to join clubs into at least one they have an interest in. You may also add your child to the waiting list for clubs via the My Child at School (MCAS) app. Please note that some clubs are invite-only e.g. musical ensembles, targeted maths opportunities.
