Dear Parents and Carers
Our Year 11 pupils finished their mocks just over a week ago and teachers have been hard at work marking the exams since then. Results have started to come in and will be shared with Y11 pupils and parents on Tuesday. The headline results are very encouraging: pupils are expected to get, on average, around 1.5 grades higher in their GCSEs at Soane than they would in a typical school.
I am hugely grateful for the support and encouragement you provide your children and the school to make this possible. Better exam results not only lead to more choice but research also indicates that these grades will, on average, provide our pupils with an additional £300k of lifetime earnings. Please continue to support their revision as they approach the final push towards GCSEs.
Our Y7-10 pupils will be sitting their Christmas Exams starting on Thursday:
Thursday: Y7-10 History, Y7-9 Geography, Y10 Science
Friday: Y7-9 English, Y7-10 RE, Y10 French
Please continue to support your child's revision in the run up to these exams.
We continue to welcome teachers and leaders from schools across the country to Soane. This helps us recruit the strongest teachers at a time when recruitment is exceptionally hard. I was particularly delighted to get this feedback from a large visit of headteachers: "In a word: spellbinding. I’ve been teaching for 26 years and have never seen such an energetic and engaged staff and student body". I am incredibly proud of what we continue to achieve with your support.
Enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
There has been lots of hard work and fun at Ark Soane this week!
Some of our Year 9s and 10s had a wonderful time watching Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre on Tuesday.
Our Y9 Boys football team played a brilliant match on Wednesday, winning 1-0 against KAA , well done! A particular shout out to Platon for the winning goal and Yunis for a man of the match performance.
There were space presentations in STEM club that were out of this world!
Year 7 have been hard at work competing in the Time Tables Rockstars 'England Rocks' competition against schools and students all over the country. We have classes and students from Ark Soane hitting the top of the leaderboards and we are so impressed by their knowledge, confidence, speed and accuracy in maths. Well done team!
