Dear Parents and Carers
We have hosted two big visits this week with 18 headteachers from around the country coming to visit Soane. They were universally blown away by the politeness and engagement of the pupils, how proud they are of their school and how hard they are working in class. Thank you for all your support.
On Monday our cast of Romeo and Juliet will be performing at Questor's Theatre in Ealing. Tickets are available directly through Questor's. We will also be running an in-school performance on Thursday 12th February and would be delighted if you could attend. Further details will come out in next week's bulletin.
All pupils have recently familiarised themselves with Unifrog which helps them identify potential future career options and the pathways to get there. Please do discuss these with your child and ask them to show you their research.
As we get closer to half-term we are seeing a lot of pupils struggle with tiredness. Please support your child to be successful at school by making sure they get as close as possible to 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Please ensure that your child does not take any electronic devices to their bedroom with them as too many pupils are struggling in lessons due to poor sleep linked to electronic devices.
Ramadan will start during half-term and we wish a "Ramadan Mubarak" to all who are celebrating. We will be holding a school Iftar on Thursday 26th February for all our families - Muslim and non-Muslim alike - please hold the date. If your child is intending on fasting then please complete the form below to avoid being charged for school meals. Please also see the consultation document attached below which sets out how we will support children through the month of Ramadan. We will be following the same approach as last year - but have strengthened the guidance to clarify that only one day of absence will be authorised for the celebration of Eid. Please respond to the consultation by the end of the week if you would like to discuss further.
We wish all our Y11s the best of luck in their final mock GCSE exams which will start on Wednesday. Please see last week's bulletin for the content list and timetable.
I hope you enjoy the remainder of the weekend.
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
A big shout out to the Y7 and 8 girls football team for winning 2-1 against Ark Acton on Monday. Goal scorers were Madina (7AUG) & Sirine (7AUG) to complete the comeback. Player of the match was Siearna (8ALE) for a brilliant defensive performance!
And it was a great evening of sport with the senior basketball team on Wednesday. They lost our first two games narrowly to Twyford & Ada Lovelace, but finished with a superb 19-16 win over Elthorne! A particular well done for the MVPs, Tinos & Milosh.
Congratulations teams!
Notices
Vaccinations (3-in-1 teenage booster and Meningitis vaccine)
At Ark Soane, we will be offering two vaccinations to all Year 9s on Thursday 5th February 2026.
The 3-in-1 teenage booster (Td/IPV vaccine) is given to boost protection against 3 separate diseases: tetanus, diphtheria and polio. The 3-in-1 teenage booster is free on the NHS for all teenagers as part of the national immunisation programme.
It is routinely given at the same time as the MenACWY vaccine. In total, you need 5 doses of the Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio vaccines through your childhood. This will build up and maintain your body's own immunity against these infections and protect you against the diseases.
Please see the NHS letter to parents sent home with your child next week and either consent or decline the vaccine for your child using this link:
https://nwl.schoolvaccination.uk/dtp/2025/ealing
The deadline for consent is 3rd February 2026.
Thank you for your support.
