Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you are enjoying the blast of summer weather over the weekend as much as we are. The summer term is always so joyful as pupils are getting ready to step up to the next year, we introduce our new cohorts of pupils and teachers and there are lots of fun activities to look forward to.
Yesterday we had all of our GCSE Art Pupils in school for the day to prepare for their final exam. I am extraordinarily proud of the work that they have created over the last two years and wish them the best of luck in their final exam. We also had 15 pupils compete in a mini-marathon in central London - with many achieving medals. 60 of our Y10 pupils were scaling Box Hill in preparation for their Duke of Edinburgh assessed expedition. All of them did us proud.
I am delighted that we are on-track to be fully recruited for next year. The biggest challenge facing all schools is a shortage of enthusiastic, inspirational and academic role-models who are willing to devote their energy to working in challenging urban schools. Thanks to your unwavering support, the impeccable behaviour of your children and the welcome that pupils give to visitors - we have secured 20 fantastic new teachers to join us from September. Please make them welcome.
I am also delighted that we had almost universal take-up for HPV vaccinations last week. Please do ensure that your child's vaccinations are up to date and speak to your GP if you are unsure.
This week we look forward to seeing all Y9 Parents on Thursday for the GCSE information evening. Please do make every effort to attend.
Our French and Spanish GCSE speaking exams are complete - the pupils did us proud. GCSE written exams will start on 11th May and end of year exams for Y7-10 will will take place from 16th-26th June.
I wish you an enjoyable remainder of the weekend.
Mr Neuberger
This Week's Highlights
We have been working hard this week on ensuring all our pupils speak with confidence and projection - as we know that this is hugely important for the next stage in their lives. Projection was king this week at Ark Soane! Our amazing Year 9s had some of their first exposure to public speaking in their English lessons this week. They worked hard all week to craft their speeches about climate change before bravely and professionally delivering them to their class and teachers. They made us proud!
Voices have been raised high around the rest of the school too, check out the photos below for some worthy projection celebration!
And our Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Award adventurers had fun in the sun, sharpening their navigation skills before their practice walk this weekend. Happy trails!
